Shichi-Go-San is a beautiful cultural tradition to celebrate children growing up —
but here in Los Angeles, something even more special happens when families choose to wear kimono together.
When Mom Wears Kimono, Everything Changes
During a recent session, a mother decided to dress in kimono with her twin children.
The moment she stepped out…
her kids froze, stared at her, and whispered:
“Mommy… you look so beautiful.”
Mothers work so hard every single day.
But when they wear kimono, something softens.
Their smile. Their posture. Their presence.
And the children see it —
maybe for the first time in their life.
That little sparkle in their eyes…
I will never forget it.
Culture Isn’t Taught — It’s Felt
“I want to wear kimono like mommy someday.”
“Next time, I want to wear one too!”
Shichi-Go-San isn’t just a photoshoot.
It’s a moment when children feel Japanese culture with their whole heart.
Wearing kimono together becomes a memory that stays with them —
not just for the photos,
but for who they will become.
A Mother’s One Step Can Shape a Child’s Future
When a mother chooses to wear kimono, she is silently passing down something precious.
Not rules. Not lessons.
A feeling.
A memory.
A connection to culture.
And that experience becomes part of their future.
